Updates from Yale-NUS College

Dear Scholarshipages readers,

Happy New Year from Yale-NUS College!

2012 is going to be an EXCITING year for Yale-NUS College, as we hire our first set of faculty members, conduct our inaugural round of admissions, and break ground on our amazing new campus.
Some not-to-be-missed recent highlights include:
  • The official announcement of two additional degree programs.  In addition to the Double Degree Program with Law, Yale-NUS will also offer a Concurrent Degree with Environmental Studiesprogram at Yale – this is a five-year program that gives Yale-NUS students the opportunity to earn a Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale’s top-ranked School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.  As part of their experience, Yale-NUS students will spend a semester during their third year taking classes at Yale with Yale students and faculty and will spend their fifth year of study at Yale as well. Click here for more information on this amazing new program: http://yale-nus.edu.sg/Concurrent-Degree-with-YFES.html.
  • Our brand new admissions brochure, containing a ton of new information on the innovative curriculum, campus life, and guaranteed overseas opportunities, is now up on our Yale-NUS website!  Check it out at: http://yale-nus.edu.sg/doc/Yale-NUS-College-Admissions-Prospectus.pdf
  • The first-ever Yale-NUS College Open House on Sunday, 15th January 2012, which will feature an information session by Jeremiah Quinlan, our Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid, on what is so unique and powerful about Yale-NUS; a special lecture by our inaugural Dean of Faculty Professor Charles Bailyn, showcasing the rigorous and interdisciplinary essence of a Yale-NUS education, and a walking tour of University Town, the temporary home of Yale-NUS College for the first 1.5 years.  Click here to register if you haven’t already: https://apply.yale-nus.edu.sg/register/openhousejan2012
More exciting news: the Yale-NUS College J.Y Pillay Distinguished Visiting Professor, Sir Peter Crane FRS, will be in Singapore in a couple of weeks’ time and will give a special lecture on 17th January 2012, on “The Future of Plants: Conservation and Use in the 21st Century”.  Seats at this lecture are VERY limited and only available on a first-come-first served basis, so click here (https://apply.yale-nus.edu.sg/register/talk17jan2011)  to read a description and register to reserve a place!
Finally, if you are a prospective student interested in Yale-NUS, mark your calendar for the opening of ourSpecial Inaugural Round of Admissions (http://yale-nus.edu.sg/Special-Inaugural-Round-of-Admissions.html) on 1st February 2012 – that is the date our online application portal will open and we will start accepting applications for our very first class in 2013 (and 2014 for the males who have a National Service obligation).  Want to get a head start on preparing in advance for your application?  The Yale admissions website has some handy tips on what you should be thinking about, so you can check it out for some good advice:http://admissions.yale.edu/advice-putting-together-your-application
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to drop us an email at admissions@yale-nus.edu.sg – we love hearing from you.
Best wishes,
