Scholarship Description: The Department of Applied Economics plus the School of Food, Agricultural and Healthy Resource Sciences supplying four scholarships which are founded to help 4 pupils – two college students in their scientific studies of Agribusiness, Cooperatives or linked locations, and two college students inside regions of Finance, Accounting and Banking. Scholarships is going to be awarded around the foundation of educational excellence to college students studying inside the areas of Agribusiness, Cooperatives, Finance, Accounting, Banking or relevant disciplines.

Saya mewakili pelajar lepasan SPM 2009 yang kini sedang menuntut di Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) kemasukan Januari (menggunakan keputusan percubaan SPM), ingin menyuarakan rasa tidak puas hati terhadap layanan yang diberikan kepada kami.



Untuk pengetahuan tuan, kami disenaraipendekkan untuk belajar di UTP melalui temuduga dan keputusan percubaan. Mengikut faktanya ,semua pelajar kemasukan Januari dan juga Mei lepas telah ditaja penuh oleh Petronas.



Namun, berbeza pada tahun ini 2010 kerana kami dimaklumkan bahawa terpaksa belajar dengan tanggungan sendiri pada semester pertama dan dijanjikan biasiswa untuk semester kedua (bersama dengan kemasukan Mei 2010).



Walau bagaimanpun, ramai yang terkejut dengan keputusan biasiswa Petronas yang baru dikeluarkan. Hanya 68 orang daripada sekitar 300 pelajar yang ditaja oleh Petronas sedangkan kami semua dijanjikan biasiswa tersebut sekiranya keputusan SPM kami mencapai atau melebihi 9A. Ramai pelajar yang mencapai 10A+ ke atas tidak mendapat tajaan tersebut.



Tambahan lagi, ada sebilangan kecil pelajar yang mana ibu bapanya sanggup berhutang untuk membayar semester pertama dengan harapan ditaja bagi semester kedua berdasarkan apa yang dijanjikan oleh Rektor Universiti Teknologi Petronas , Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin.



Apa yang mengejutkan, pelajar yang mana ibu bapanya sanggup berhutang telah mendapat keputusan yang amat cemerlang iaitu 13A dalam peperiksaan SPM 2009 akan tetapi tidak mendapat biasiswa Petronas.



Berita ini telah mengecewakan ramai pihak kerana kami telah membayar sebanyak RM5,692 dan juga RM720 untuk yuran pendaftaran untuk semester pertama. Lebih-lebih lagi dengan kos hidup yang tinggi di sini. Kami semua (termasuk ibu bapa) telah merasa begitu bangga kerana layak untuk menjejak kaki di UTP ini, tetapi kami dilayan sebegitu rupa. Disebabkan keadaan ini, ada yang telah keluar daripada sini dan memasuki matrikulasi dan IPTA. Mereka telah membazir masa dan wang yang banyak. Kami seolah-olah dipermainkan dan diperniagakan.

Faculties and Academic Programmes

OUM has established five faculties offering programmes in various disciplines that are relevant to the current and emerging trends in the industry. Each programme undergoes a series of stringent quality checks ranging from curriculum design, content and assessment methods.

The curriculum design is undertaken by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the respective fields and verified by the Senate, comprising members of the academia as well as professionals from the industry. The syllabus of the programmes are frequently reviewed to reflect changes that occur in technology and new industrial practices. Each programme is approved by the National Accreditation Board prior to being offered to the public.

Apart from its main campus situated at Jalan Tun Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, OUM has established a strong network of learning centres nationwide and also uses facilities at selected public and private institutions of higher learning. These learning centres are strategically located at major cities and towns, from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah and Sarawak.

Eligibility

To qualify, you must have sat for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination in 2009 and achieved excellent results. You must also demonstrate strong personal qualities such as leadership, drive and teamwork. Shortlisted candidates will undergo the PETRONAS EduQuest Camp for final selection.

Petronas Education Scholarship Overseas programmes are mainly for those pursuing Engineering, Applied Science, Business Management and Economics. Under the programme, scholars will pursue their pre-university programmes (A-Levels / International Baccalaureate / Australian Foundation / New Zealand Foundation) in Malaysia and must excel prior to pursuing undergraduate studies overseas.

2. Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Program

The UTP programme is for those wishing to pursue degree courses in engineering and technology at one of the most prestigious universities in Malaysia. Admission is based on excellent SPM qualifications. Under this programme, students are required to follow and pass the Foundation Programme (1 year) at UTP before proceeding with a Bachelor Programme
